ALKAMIX™ MB-SAMBA can be added to polyethylene during extrusion to reduce the coefficient of friction of films. The level required will vary according to coefficient of friction desired, gauge of film, polymer type (LLDPE,LDPE, etc…) and other factors such as the presence of other additives (including antiblocks, colourants / pigments, etc...). For injection moulded articles, typical addition rates of MB-SAMBA of up to 2.0% are recommended due to the thickness of the moulded article. Higher addition rates may result in problems with printing or label adhesion, or possibly warpage. The maximum level of addition of ALKAMIX™ MB-SAMBA based on both good manufacturing practice and to ensure conformance to the requirements to the United States Food and Drug Administration Regulations CFR21 is the minimum required to achieve the desired effect. When added to a polyethylene formulation free of any slip additives, the maximum recommended level is 10%. The suitability of finished articles manufactured using this material as a component, and the observance of given limitations, must be verified by the converter for each application to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. An overall migration limit may apply to the finished article. |

ALKAMIX™ MB-AO300 can be added to base grade low density polyethylene during extrusion to assist in overcoming thermal instability problems. The level required will vary according to the type of extrusion, conditions and polymer used, however the recommended addition level is between 1 and 2 percent. ALKAMIX™ MB-AO300 can also be used as a shutdown compound to prevent oxidation of polymer left idle in an extruder. As a shutdown compound, it is usually added at concentrations of 30 percent or more to fractional MFI low density polyethylenes. The maximum level of addition of ALKAMIX™MB-AO300 based on both good manufacturing practice and to ensure conformance to the requirements to the United States Food and Drug Administration Regulations CFR21 is 4 percent, when added to a polyethylene formulation free of any other additives. The suitability of finished articles manufactured using this material as a component, and the observance of given limitations, must be verified by the converter for each application to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. An overall migration limit may apply to the finished article. |
